Well,  since I am sick and tired of driving a lowered vehicle (Civic, AKA Rice Rockets), I decided that my 4runner will be lifted.  I am planning to do some off-roading adventures in the future.  I had two kinds of lift that I have tried since I ventured in this "Modcoholic Syndrome."

1st Lift (Removed):  I installed my previous lift on spring of 2001.  It consisted of 1" PP lift coil springs, 1" front Daystar Spacer, 1.5" Cornfed Rear Spacers.  This lift gave me about 3 inches in the front and 3.25 inches in the rear.  The lift was awesome because the lift gave my 4runner a mean and masculine looked.  Over time, since I drive my 4runner 90% on-road for now, I started to feel the vibration and stiff ride.  I  also saw my CV angle in a terrible angle.  I was really worried about the CV boots cracking.  So for long term sake, I decided that I will modify/change my lift.

2nd Lift (Removed Front Only):  My new and improve lift as of January 1, 2002:   Front:  OEM coil springs, 1" Front Daystar spacers, and Bilstein shocks.  Rear:  Bilstein shocks and OME 891 H/D rear coil springs.  Handling:   Front and Rear Addco sway bars with Greasable (Energy Suspension) Polyurethane bushings.  Don't get me wrong, this setup was livable and great.  I think the only thing that I did not like was that the front sat lower than the rear.  My 4runner looked liked a "Hot Rod."  The difference between front and rear is about 2 inches. Pictures available upon request.

New (as of 10/13/02):  Change the Front Only and Rear Stayed the same as in the 2nd lift: Okay, you might be thinking why I change so much.  Well, I guess my first two suspension setup did not really have no research on them.  Since I am trying to set my 4runner up to go off-road soon, I've been doing lots of research.  I've read and heard that the Sway-A-Way and ATS Upper Control Arm setup is one of the greatest setup around.  Its been tested off and on road.  So far, there are no complaints.  I've decided to purchase the set from Mike of WWW.XTREMEOFF-ROAD.COM.  He is a great guy to deal with.

Overall, this is the best lift I had.  The ride is much better and smoother in my opinion.  Since I got the Tundra valving, the front is a bit stiffer when I hit bumps or pot holes.  But on flat ground, the ride is much smoother and stable.  And especially, the CV angle is looking good.  I have the SAW's cranked up with 2 1/2 inches of thread showing.  (see below)

Most Current measurements with Sway-A-Way's and ATS Upper Control Arm.:

After*

  Front: Rear:
Fender to center of wheel hub 22 1/2 inches 23 1/2 inches
Fender to bare ground 37 inches 38 1/4 inches
Overall height of my 4runner:  (measured from ground to tip of the roof attachments) Approx: 79" to 80" or 8 feet

Here is a close up of the lift I got from my setup (Front and Rear)!!!

Braided Steel brake lines and the CV angle.  The third fin it touching the next fin to the left.  I think this is tolerable.
